Starting a martial art is easier when you know exactly what happens before, during and after your first class. Here is how joining Marrickville Martial Arts Club works, step by step.
Step 1: Book a free trial class
Every new member starts with a free trial class, booked online through GymMaster — the only booking system the club uses. It is a single free class, not a free week of training.
Choose the class you’d like to try from the live timetable. Every program is taught from the fundamentals, so no experience is needed. If you’d rather book with someone, contact the club and we’ll book it with you.
Step 2: Arrive 15 minutes early
On your first visit, arrive about 15 minutes before class. We’ll show you around, take care of the paperwork and introduce you to the coach.
Wear comfortable sportswear without zips, buttons or pockets, and bring a water bottle. Each program page lists anything specific to that class — for example, club gloves are available to borrow for a Muay Thai trial.
Step 3: Choose a plan if you want to keep going
There’s no pressure to decide on the day. If you want to continue, memberships are set up online in GymMaster:
- Weekly memberships are billed weekly and set how many classes you can attend each week, from one class a week up to unlimited. They continue until you cancel
- The Five-Class Pack is a one-off payment for five classes with no ongoing billing — useful if your weeks are irregular. It expires six months after purchase and can be used across all MMAC programs
There’s no joining fee and no access fee. Failed payments incur a $5 fee, and there are no other compulsory MMAC charges.
To pause or cancel a weekly membership, email a written request to info@marrickvillemartialartsclub.com.au with one week’s notice. You can pause for up to three months. Injury doesn’t remove the need to give notice, and retrospective cancellations and refunds aren’t accepted. See current memberships and prices and the Membership Terms for the full details.
